Possibly.

It's possible that there could be a backward incompatibility with some drivers 
and some mods to the stepgen area that nearly double the speeds attainable.

You might want to run 'stepconf' and generate a new set of ini & hal files.  
It is pretty good at configuring the hardware well enough to get you started 
with its new abilities.
