That was probably the 'every x boots' run of e2fsck, which with large drives can take an hour or more. That is typically set to every 30 boots IIRC. There is a utility, called tune2fs, that can adjust these settings, but it isn't part of the install on my milling machines Kubuntu-6.06 box. >I'm not bothered about APM, but could do with ACPI back on here, will >ACPI=FORCE do that? I don't think that is a good idea as IIRC acpi does something to the interrupt handling, and this will royally mess with the real time abilities of emc, hence its disabled for that reason.
