Just in case anyone is interested, a copy of a reply to Dave. ... (^^ added later vv) I have a WiFi connection and I'm close to Yosemite Park. We have cable in the area and no DSL. ^^Cell data was very slow and very expensive so I haven't looked into it for a couple of years.vv Cable is very unreliable, ^^slow up load .vv Satellite has slow upload and latency ^^ limited "fair use" vv. I have (or had) a weather webcam that uses about 1GB upload, I use about 1GB normally myself, which uses up my 2GB limit at $50/month. I get charged $20/GB over that. I relay to a couple of neighbors and get charged for that too. Over Christmas the neighbors kids came up and used 8GB, so my bill was $250 for that month. Normally it is around $100. I tried providing a local WiFi service myself with a T1, it was $500/month and about as fast as a DSL line, but unlimited and fast both ways. I lost a lot of money on that one. Now, I just try to not use the Internet, no videos or large downloads, the webcam is down and may not get fixed. -- Kirk Wallace http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ http://www.wallacecompany.com/E45/index.html California, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Colocation vs. Managed Hosting A question and answer guide to determining the best fit for your organization - today and in the future. http://p.sf.net/sfu/internap-sfd2d _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
