Some areas around Fort Wayne (near where I live) were a test bed for Verizon to install Fiber optic cables right to the end users house. They spent a lot of money installing fiber and the people that have the service called "Fios" have very good internet speeds. Verizon bundled Internet, phone and TV over the fiber connections. I am about two miles from the end of the Fios lines. :-(
Regardless it must not have been profitable since Verizon sold this area to Frontier and these guys are clueless. One day they cut off my DSL service and I called them and told them my service was down. They said it was due to a billing issue... so I asked what was the problem, but they couldn't identify any billing issue. About 3 hours of phone calls later they decided to turn it back on since they could not determine why they had turned it off in the first place. :-( Crazy.
