On Linux an SSD will last for a very long time. If you are paranoid you can use the suggestions on the LinuxCNC wiki for compact flash cards but it probably isn't necessary.
I would't run an SSD on Win7 or Win8. They thrash the drive nearly all the time and will wear out an SSD surprisingly quickly.
