Andy,
I like the looks of that 300 model. I sort of feel the same way about
my new lathe. It is just big enough to get something done yet takes up less
space. That and the layout is similar to the Asian 12x36 that I used to
have. Really looking forward to having my first CNC lathe in the shop. I
think I am going to really make good use of it. I would like to try to find
a used CNC collet lathe to go with it tho at some point. I know there are
several different machines that are worth looking at that have a smallish
footprint. The Hardinge CHNC style as well as the GT27 gang tool machines
look interesting. I am hopeful that this Standard Modern 14x40 will be
able to do MOST of the things I want it to.

The Harrison looks like a nice small footprint sturdy machine not
unlike the 12x36 I had only I am sure built to considerably higher
standards LOL. The general layout tho is familiar of course. I am excited
that much of the things I was able to do with the manual lathe will be
crossing over to the CNC lathe. Unfortunately it did not come with a steady
or follow rest so I will have to make one but I would want a ball bearing
setup anyway and most factory offerings are bronze tipped. Either way good
luck man. Peace

Pete
