Found some at Home Depot today, small and shielded but stiffer that I'd
like. In a cable chain it should be good for several years.

This is a two headed calf. 3mm bolts and flat washers were in the drawers
at Home Depot, although the 25mm length is a hair short. I made some
brass tubing spacers about 17mm long. But they are just big enough that
the spacers are hitting the opto. Since the spot where the spacers sits
is so poorly machined, they want to tip, so getting the disk to run true
is going to be difficult. So it looks as if I need to make another disk
with shorter a/b slots so I can move the index slot outward at least a
millimeter, maybe more. That means I'll have to calibrate the backlash
better than it is on the little mill right now. And reduce the center
hole so its better held on center by the reduced clearance to the
spindle return spring holddown. I'll dial indicate that to see how much
runout it has, and if it can be driven sideways to reduce that runout.

Progress, but not at the speed I had planned. :(

I also got some birch 3/4" cut to make the "furniture" aka the high shelf
for the computer & motor driver stuff, a lower shelf for the 22" Samsung
ex tv, no tuner now, but is still a good monitor, and a front yard below
that for the keyboard and mouse to play on. All hanging from the bottom
of the shelf.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
