Ah, I see, The designers at Holbrook seemed to have decided that the first idler gear under the spindle needed at least a 1.5" shaft, and then made it 1 3/4" just to be sure. That means that there was plenty of space to fit an encoder, mounted in an eccentric bush, inside the space vacated by the shaft. -- atp "A motorcycle is a bicycle with a pandemonium attachment and is designed for the especial use of mechanical geniuses, daredevils and lunatics." — George Fitch, Atlanta Constitution Newspaper, 1916 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
