You guys make things too complicated.
Pop open your address book. Use the filter in the top right to filter by
Category = X. Select all. Cntrl-Click and choose "New Message To."
Or, if you want to make an actual group, select all, then click the new
group button.
Couldn't be more simple and no scripts required.
