Not having a Palm or Visor I cannot comment on the synch problems, although
I've been on OE and Entourage lists since Day One, and it seems to me that
synching has been shaky and erratic in every environment (including with
other PIM products like Consultant and even Palm Desktop).
As for the rest, I think anyone who is going from Entourage back to OE is
just plain nuts. ;-)
If there is something in OE that you miss in Entourage, there is almost
certainly another--probably BETTER--way to do it.
As for slowdowns, I heartily recommend archiving your messages, and keeping
your Entourage database down to a few thousand messages. It flies under
those conditions. OE was certainly no better than Entourage in this regard
(slowness with large database), and IMO Entourage is faster in many
respects. You may have to poke around a bit and change the way you do a few
things, but Entourage can be a very responsive product.
Searching in a large DB is terribly slow, I'll grant, and I know they are
working on that. That's another reason I archive into a FileMaker database,
where searching is lightning fast. And with only a couple thousand message
in Microsoft Entourage, the search times there are not bad either.
