As a non-programmer with a dangerous smattering of knowledge about the MacOS
I always thought that installers looked at the system for Creator codes or
something equally esoteric. I didn't realise they just looked for apps
simply by filename! Just shows what I know.

Again, who'd have thought an installer would stall at a custom icon if the
sacred filename is okay (assuming it is). There are plenty of bemused users
at the VersionTracker page that Diane pointed at yesterday who seem to have
had issues like this. I also saw some people complaining about splash screen
pict resources. What's that all about then?!
 
I would just like to point out that I ran the SR1 update with no probs and
am loving the speed increase in the find functionality especially.
