Hi folks,
I haven't posted to this list in quite a while. I've been living in OS X --
sure look forward to the day when Entourage is carbonized.
I have a problem that is puzzling me; I hope someone can help. My wife's
Entourage has suddenly taken to crashing with a Type 2 error. Here are the
facts:
(1) when Erage tries to check the email account (POP), it crashes.
(2) I rebuilt the database (Typical rebuilt)
(3) I ran DiskWarrior on the entire drive (no problems to speak of)
(4) I installed a clean copy of Erage
(5) I made the First-Run run again
(6) Not trusting that the database rebuilt worked, I moved her User Data
folder to a save place, and allowed Entourage to create a new one. I created
a new POP account, and checked mail: CRASH
Significantly (I guess), Entourage does not crash if I launch it, if I read
messages. Only when it checks the POP account. So, back to using the old
User Data folder:
(7) I deleted the existing POP account and created a new one: CRASH still!
Here's the real puzzler for me:
(8) I created an IMAP account into the same email account (this is a
university account, so it has the same mail address as the POP, and the same
SMTP address for what that's worth). THIS WORKS FINE. No crashes when we
check using IMAP.
I've tried popping into my university account with Entourage on my Mac,
thinking it was the university mail server giving us problems: no crashing
with my machine
Okay -- I'm stuck. While I can allow her to use the IMAP account, I'd sure
like to fix whatever this problem is.
HELP! Where should I turn next?
