Denes,

You obviously have some extension conflicts on your computer. If everyone
had this problem, then it would be a bug. But hundreds of thousands of
people don't have this problem. Therefore it's not a bug. If it's a bug, why
don't i have it? I have the Assistant on all the time without problem. Yes,
it's a lot easier to blindly blame Microsoft for infesting you with bugs,
but getting rid of problems like this is careful, tedious work. You have to
remove all extensions except for the ones Entourage itself needs, which
fortunately only include the Ms OS 9.1 (or 9.04, or 8.6, or whatever you
have, extension set in Extensions Manager or Conflict Catcher). Try that
with with Assistant on. If you have problems even then, then you must have
some corrupt preferences somewhere. You should do a clean OS install and
start from that point after reinstalling Office.

In either case start adding back extensions a few at a time, reboot, open
Entourage with Assistant on, you'll know the problem is in the last group of
extensions you just added Remove them again, and start adding them in one by
one, rebooting each time. You'll find out which is causing the problem. If
it's some cheapo freeware or shareware thing, you might have to uninstall
it. In any case, delete its preferences and see if that works. If not,
you'll have to uninstall it and inform its producer that you think there's a
conflict with Office 2001. Might as well let MS and us know as well.
