I just spent some time on the telephone with someone trying to run one of my Entourage scripts. He is running the special edition of Entourage that comes with the Word/Entourage low-cost combo package. Working with him, we discovered that support for AppleScript has been deliberately removed from "Microsoft Entourage SE" and that support for Visual Basic has been removed from the special edition of Word.
It took some time with the scripts to find that it was not recognizing the AE codes for Entourage. Then the fellow checked the packaging and found that it does inform the user of the evisceration that has been performed on the software. What it does not do is to alert the user to the <significance> of that removal. I am appalled that Microsoft has foisted such a crippled package on the world. Frankly, the primary reason I am using Entourage is its superior scripting support; I'd probably be using some other, free client (very likely Outlook Express or even Claris Emailer) if Entourage did not have scripting. I have, unknowningly, recommended the special edition as a less expensive (still $149, but not as much as the entire Office suite) way to get Entourage. Now, I would definitely discourage anyone except the most casual user of E-mail from buying that package. For that matter, I'd steer the casual user to another mail client that does not cost so much. To me, Entourage without scripting support is like a car without tires. -- Allen Watson, Portland, OR -- <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> My web page: <http://home.earthlink.net/~allenwatson/> Teach only love, for that is what you are.
