Yes, you're right. I did misread your post. I went back a little later
yesterday and reread it.

That's what I said above. You can't run them simultaneously.

I do believe that microsoft should not prevent you from running WORD on one
machine and ENTOURAGE on another simultaneously. But I think it does even
prevent that. Can you disable the MS software that starts up with OS X?

In the worst case scenario, you can unplug the computer from your network
and run them. I know that's not ideal, especially if you want to use
Entourage.

By the way, I have a site license copy of Office purchased from my
University. There is no security code that needs to be entered, and there is
no problem running multiple copies. There are a number of legal copies
installed by people here with no access codes, and they work just fine on
our network.
