Well, if you insist on using only one copy, you could mount your laptop to your desktop in disk mode, and boot the desktop system with the laptop's disk. This way, you can use the desktop's capabilities (faster processor, larger display, better keyboard), but only use one licensed copy of Office and have all of your files on the the laptop. (I am assuming you would use the desktop systems disk only for archive.)
