Sorry for beating an old drum. I didn't make it to the bottom of your long
mail. It seems your needs are really best met by a relational database
system. Filemaker certainly is a convenient way to do it. If you like to
play with MySQL and PERL you can do it yourself for free (ok, time is
money...) and even have a www interface to be used from everywhere in the
world and from any computer with a browser installed. I wrote a very basic
introduction how to do a simple guestbook application. It was written for a
community college class on system administration. If you already have a plan
how to link your messages it should be easy for you to create the set of
tables needed and hoe to join them.
