A correct – the rebuild will fix Database corruption, not Disk corruption. If you have reason to suspect disk corruption, you should run Disk First Aid (Mac OS 9 and earlier) or Disk Utility (OS X and later) and repair the disk.
I didn’t think I had Jaguar with me (I am overseas) but I found it. When I put the disk in it I could find only Disk First Aid, which opened up System 9.2 and then a message said I couldn’t use that...Why would a OS X disk have that useless utility on it? Where do I find Disk Utility?
