If you boot the Jaguar CD, it will come up with the first installation screen. Instead of selecting the language, go to the menu at the top left and select Disk Utility. Once Disk Utility is running, you may select the First Aid tab and verify and repair your disk.

By the way, are you certain that you have the Jaguar disk? It should have a large, spotted X on the front, and list the OS version as 10.2.
