I got it to work. I don’t know how! I am using X. I did the rebuild and it hasn’t quit since! So far so good!

Sounds good.

I had found the Disk Utility on the computer, however, I thought I had to use a utility on a CD to repair the main HD.

That's true, but you didn't have to repair the HD, just the Disk Permissions. (Actually, each time you restart the computer, it does a First Aid check and repair of your Hard Disk, so you really never need to use the CD for this. There are more sophisticated 3rd-party utilities such as Disk Warrior which are available if your disk is ever really whacked.) Your problem was with the Entourage Database, requiring a good rebuild, not with your hard disk.

I am used to putting in a CD and using First Aid, so that is why I thought it was strange when the one I found on the CD only worked on system 9.
All it would do is repair permissions, which is what you said to do anyway! Not that I understand what it means, but if it stops quitting, that’s fine. Actually WORD quit as much as Entourage, so I don’t know if the problem is common to both programs, since they are all part of Office.
The four .bin ones had error messages on downloading. Then I clicked on the other option ( was it hqx or something?) to the right, the larger file, and that was was fine.
Thank you very much. No offence meant to helpers!  I am learning a lot from the other posts.

So far so good.

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - 2001 or X. It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.
