If you had entered birthdays into the Calendar from contacts' birthday field
in the Address Book, you just got rid of them too (at least if entered a
real birthdate with correct year. If they have this year's date they might
still be there.) In the Address Book, add a Birthday column (View/Columns),
click on its header to sort by Birthday. You'll easily see all the contacts
who have birthdays bunched at the top. You'll have to open each one, click
on Personal tab, and click on the funny "castle" icon next to the birthday
(anyone know what that icon is?) and select Add to Calendar if the date
showing is earlier than the cutoff point for your deletions.
