People in this office have seen this problem with the following setups. It
is not consistent. It does not happen every time, but in several years of
using Entourage X and before that Entourage for OS 9 none of us had ever
seen the problem. We all use a variety of emails for personal use and we
live in different parts of the country. We have all seen the issue after
upgrading to 2004. A few examples (I'll try to get some more):

10.3.4 / Powerbook/ Earthlink POP mail / After checking the Earthlink mail
on the road via webmail, Entourage 2004 occasionally double downloads. Mail
set to stay on server for 10 days.

10.3.4 / ibook / G5 / POP email from a Verio hosted server. After moving the
Microsoft User Data folder from one machine to another, Entourage 2004
sometimes (but not always) double downloads on first check of email on the
second computer. Mail set to stay on server for 30 days.

10.3.1 / powerbook G4 / dual G5 / POP email account from Verizon. After
moving the Microsoft User Data folder between machines, Entourage 2004
double downloads. The same thing happens when I transfer the folder back.
Mail set to stay on server for 7 days.

This user notes: I could get rid of the problem by trashing all the messages
on the server after copying the Microsoft User data folder, but that's
almost as much of a hassle as getting rid of duplicate messages also I like
to have the security of knowing I can get those messages with mail2web if
both my computers are down. As I move between my machines often the best
solution for now has been to downgrade to X which works fine (except for the
crashes on malformed spam) and respects my font smoothing prefs (2004
ignores my prefs for the folder list and email list).
