For weeks now, nearly every day, at no particular time of the day, I’m unable to send or receive email. I can still connect to the Internet, however. And after a short while — maybe 15-30 minutes — the email if fine again. I have called Earthlink on several occasions to find out what is causing this. They offer suggestions to re-set certain things, but it’s never a permanent solution.
It might be helpful to see the traffic between Entourage and your ISP. Since you are still on OS 9, I’m not certain the feature you need is available. If you have Interarchy, check under the Network Monitoring tab. This is one of those things that tend to scare some people, but it’s actually simple to do.
The traffic you would see would be Entourage checking in, then your ISP asking for passwords etc. If there is a problem, you would get the error and have a good clue as to what was causing the error. Armed with this info you will be better able to get help from Earthlink support.
