I just got off the phone with Earthlink and still have no good solution to
my intermittent email problems. I spoke with the first person who gave me
all the same info I've gotten each time I've called, emailed, or live
chatted with them. She told me it was my operating system (OS 9.2) and I
need to upgrade to 10. She also said it was Entourage. I told her I've
emailed with Entourage experts who told me it is NOT Entourage. I told her
it makes NOOOOOO sense, if those are my problems, that I can usually connect
but sometimes cannot. I asked for a supervisor.

After quite a wait, I finally spoke with a supervisor with such an accent
that I could hardly understand her. She admitted that Earthlink has some
connection problems with smtp and that's why they encourage people to update
to OS10 so smtpauth can be used. I asked why they can't fix smtp but got no
real answer. She said they've asked their engineers to work on it.

I asked why I had no problems until about two months ago and got no real
answer.

So, bottom line, she's telling me my problems won't be solved until I
upgrade to OS 10 so I can use smtpauth.

So, keeping in mind here that I am NOT the least bit technical, can anyone
explain to me why they can't do whatever needs to be done to fix the smtp
and why I had no problems until 2 months ago?
