Sorry, but I completely disagree with this view. The issue is not whether OS 9 is supported because that's not relevant - the issue is are the network and applications protocols being used supported. And that's POP3, SMTP, and at a lower layer, TCP/IP. And as far as I know, nothing has changed in those areas that should cause older compliant software to stop working. Given that, since Entoruage 2001 hasn't changed, the only possible answers is their is a network connectivity issue or the POP3 and SMTP server software at Earthlink's end has been broken and is no longer fully standards compliant. My guess, given the intermittent nature of the problem, is that Earthlink does load balancing on their mail servers and at certain times, Louise's connection gets directed to a functioning server and at other times, when she has the problems, gets directed to a broken server. That this "broken server" works for some or even most clients is irrelevant - if it doesn't fully support the POP3 and SMTP protocol standards, then it is non-compliant. But it would not surprise me that testing is done by testing with some popular clients rather than a formal test suite. -- Larry Stone [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
