1) It appears that the company hosting johnfquinn.com for you (ipowerweb.net) does not support port 587 or port 465 (my attempt to telnet to both of those ports on mail.johnfquinn.com) times out. Not all ISPs do. So that is not a solution for you. 2) and 3) You're not a customer of theirs so of course it won't. Why would you expect either of them to be able to authenticate your ipowerweb.net account? When you connect to a non-local SMTP server to relay mail, it must be one on which you have an account as it will require authentication (otherwise it's an open relay which is a very bad thing). > With requires authentication checked. > > Neither of these combinations worked...server cold not be found, etc > > I'm back in Port 25, with an smtp of <mail.optonline.net>. With optonline.net blocking port 25 and ipowerweb.net not supporting alternate submission ports, that's all you can do. And as you found out, you can send as your johnfquinn.com address via the optonline.net (there are some ISPs who won't let you do that but I would steer well clear of such ISPs as there are many valid reasons to send that way such as you are doing). -- Larry Stone [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
