Just a guess but ... quit out of all Office apps and open Activity Monitor. Look for and Quit all instances of the Database Daemon (not the Microsoft AU Daemon). See if that does it.
Also, use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions. Not a bad idea (and certainly doesn't hurt) whenever installing software.
