I have updated to 10.1.7 nothing changed .. Still the same "application is not responding"
Then I created a new user... And the same "application is not responding" I have thrown out the the preferences... So it appears that I need to do an archive and install. But first will backup.. Etc. before I do that... Thanks for the suggestions.. Will let u know if it solves it. Janice F.
