Are there two Microsoft User Data folders?

You can have more than one Identity folder inside the Microsoft User Data
folder. For example, you can have Office 2001 Identities, Office X
Identities, and Office 2004 Identities inside the MUD folder. It's been so
long since I used OE, but I believe it's Identity can also reside inside the
MUD folder.

I suspect that you have trashed the original "Main Identity". Do a search
for Main Identity and see if you can find your original.
