Your numerous projects could very likely be the source of the problem.

Duplicate your identity and delete all projects that are not current. You
can always switch back to the old Identity if you need access to the old
projects.

Another option would be to save or archive:

Save or archive a project
1. In the Project Center, open the project you want to save or archive, and
then click the Overview tab.
2. Click Backup, and then under Archive the following item types, select the
types of information that you want to archive.
3. Click the right arrow, and then select the option you want.
4. Click the right arrow, and then type the name of the project you want to
save or archive in the Save As box.
5. In the Where box, select a location, and then click Save.

Import a project
1. Click the Microsoft Entourage File menu, and then click Import.
2. Select Import information from an Entourage archive, and then click the
right arrow.
3. Locate the project archive file (.rge extension) that you want to import,
and then click Import
