It looks like there are at least 2 ways:

1) Have you tried on the desktop G5...

File -> Export...
  [€] Local contacts to a list (tab-delimited text)

The default name for that file will be <Contacts Export.txt>.

...and then on the MacBook...

File -> Import...

 [€] Import information from a text file
...and then select the file that was the export from the G5.

2) Entourage also has another function for this.
File -> Export...
  [€] Item to an Entourage archive
    [€] All items
        [x] Local Contacts

The default name for that file will be <Main Identity.rge>.

In the next screen, be careful not to delete them from Entourage.

Then on the MacBook do a File -> Import... From an Archive. Then select
the archive that you exported.

I don't know which is a better method. I just did Export...
  [€] Local contacts to a list (tab-delimited text)

...and opened the text file. It included all the various contact
information, including phone numbers, snail addresses, etc.

3) Another way, requires third party software, and OS 10.4.8 minimum,
Entourage 2004 minimum.

Use SyncTogether from Mark/Space with Address Book.app.
<http://www.markspace.com/synctogether.php>

G5 Entourage -> G5 Address Book.app -> G5 SyncTogether -> MacBook
SyncTogether -> MacBook Entourage

The advantage of this is that you can keep the Address Books on the two Macs
synced in the future.

4) You can also probably do a Sync in this manner using .Mac, but I haven't
used that.
