That does not work well for me. I have 951 items in my Entourage Address Book (Entourage 11.3.6, OS 10.4.11, Intel Core 2 Duo). In Address Book View, I selected all, and dragged them to a folder on the Desktop. Only 291 files (.vcf files) were in the folder. I tried again.
