I use them all the time on the newsgroups. The Mactopia forum interface to the Office newsgroup breaks even moderately long links. If you want to use a service, try this one... Mac OS X Service to shorten a URL with Bit.ly | Jaharmi¹s Irreality <http://www.jaharmi.com/2008/07/16/mac_os_x_service_to_shorten_a_url_with_bi t_ly> <http://bit.ly/4eacNa> Bit.ly is another service that provides the "tiny urls." They have a Java script that you can drag to your favorites bar.
