Sounds good but I cannot launch any of the 2008 apps as I keep getting
the setup assistant and I can't get past this beacause of the other
problem Catch 22??

I've been upgrading about 60 users and had the process fail once in a
way similar to what you describe. In that case, part of the Entourage
2004 database was on a bad block on the hard drive and the initial
step of the update, which appears to be nothing more than a copy of
the database to the Office 2008 Identities folder, failed silently and
dropped me back to the screen where you select the identity to move.
Trying to copy the database in the Finder resulted in an I/O error so
I gave up and created a new identity for the user in Entourage 2008 -
we use Exchange accounts so all their data was on the server. If
you're using POP, you might have to export your saved mail from
Entourage 2004 and then import into 2008 to complete the transition.
