I agree, for sun lit shots. I find this especially true with slide film and
its limited exposure latitude. Take a subject that is bright or white. An
incidence reading will give you a "correct" meter reading for the average
light falling on your scene. This reading will be about 2 stops over an 18%
reflectance reading. For sure, your whites will be white but your subjects
texture and shadow detail will be washed out. The EOS-1v (also the EOS-3)
meter seems to know this and add exposure when bright or white subject raise
the light lever above sunny 16. This results in an exposure about 1 stop
over 18% reflectance, so you retain texture and shadow detail.

PS Dare I say that I think the meter in the EOS-1v is a little better than
the EOS-3? I find most of the exposure mistakes that I make with the EOS-1v
is when I compensate like I would with the EOS-3. Naaa! That'd just lead to
fights, so I won't say it. :)
