No.  The meters are similar and the AE algorithms are different.

I read an interview with Mr. Yoshiaki Irie conducted by Jonathan Kwok.  Mr.
Yoshiaki Irie is Senior Engineer for Canon.  Mr. Kwok asked Mr.Irie if the
1v's AE system was any better than the Eos 3's and does it handle
backlighting better? Mr. Irie said "Yes" the cameras AE systems are similar
but that the EOS-1v is better.  I don't want to plagiarize Mr. Kwok's
