I was unaware of the 420. Apparently it is quite new. Not so inexpensive as I
would like for this application in that I would like two lights but a single
background light might suffice. It would make the job easier for sure to have
compatibility with the ST-E2 and is very attractive from that point of view. I
will likely get at least one but will continue to see if I can get proper
exposure on manual using all the lights I have . . . hate to have light going to
waste! Thanks to all who replied to this thread. When I next order from B&H, I
will ask about the plastic feet for holding flashes off-camera. I assume the
420EX does not come with such a stand?
