The 70-200/4 is an excellent lens and also works very well combined with the
EF1.4x TC. I use it regularly and rate its performance as equal to the 2.8
version other than the obvious one stop loss. When I take short jaunts and
am not working I sometimes just pack a -3, 28-135, 70-200/4, and 1.4x (to
give 100-280/5.6), which makes a nice compact, light kit.
