i'd vote for the 28-135. i was in europe (italy in particular) in september
and the only lens i used was the 28-135--i also took a 70-210/4 and a 20-35
and never used them. you'll find you need the wide angle far more than
you'll need the telephoto--and the less gear you pack, the happier you'll be.
take fast film for the interiors that don't allow flash. most of the
churches in italy and france do allow flash. england is a different
story--most don't allow you to use your camera at all.
