Hi Gerry and List,

Happy New Year.

The Lithium AA battery may last longer, but you risk overvoltage damage
to your camera. Since the BP-300 instruction leaflet and the sticker on
the BP-300 battery cover warns specifically against using Lithium-AA cells,
I can imagine such damage might not be covered under warranty.

The rated capacity for a CR123A battery is 1300mAh, which is under half
the rated capacity of EL91 (Lithium AA = ANSI/NEDA 15LF) battery at 2900mAh.

I loaded up a BP-300 with 4 fresh Lithium AA cells, and measured terminal
voltage of 9.5V under no load! I didn't have the courage to fry my
brand new Elan 7E especially when Alkaline batteries can provide a similar
capacity (2850mAh for Energizer) at a safer voltage.
