Actually, it does work, but the battery drains very fast when it starts to
fail. If you pay special attention though, you'll notice that the usual
camera sounds (i.e. film advance and shutter) change when the battery goes
down. this is how I know I need to change my battery...

You know what the funny part is, when you turn the camera off, then on, it
is likely that you will get 3 bars, even though the indicator showed 1 bar
before turning it off. However, as soon as you activate focus or fire the
shutter, the indicator will show 1. ;P
