Feel free, but you'll find that every system involves
one or more compromises.  Including Nikon's.  I think
the key here is that you're used to the Nikon system,
and that's the way you think flash should work.  Had
you started the other way 'round, you'd wonder why
fill flash was so much harder on the Nikon, and why
you got so many pictures with black backgrounds.

Canon's system works very well, indeed.  Give yourself
a chance to get used to it.
