I should qualify my statement "All of the other
features of the 550EX work with the 1N or any other
A-TTL (type B) body.". 

What I meant (and sould have said) is "All of the
other features that the 550EX has in common with the
540EZ, work with the 1N or any  other A-TTL (type B)
body.

Obviously things like E-ttl, FP-flash and modelling
light won't work with a 1n.  BUT all the things like
flash exposure compensation, strobe, zoom over-ride,
manual power settings all work the same.

Apologies for the slip of the lip (or fingers in this
case).
