But not by much.  The only thing you lose, using a 550
rather than a 540, is A-TTL.  But the 540EZ switches
to plain TTL mode for anything other than direct,
on-camera flash anyway.  Use bounce flash?  No A-TTL,
us the Off Shoe Cord 2?  No A-TTL.  Use manual
exposure mode on the camera?  No A-TTL.

Frankly, I never saw A-TTL as that much better than
TTL anyway.  All the "A" does is send out a pre-flash
to help the camera choose the "optimum" aperture.  I'd
rather shoot in manual mode and select the aperture
myself anyway.

The EOS 3 (or 1v) and 550EX definitely offer better
flash than the 1n and either flash, though.
