My experience has been good. I typically get about 40 rolls with a 2CR5. I have
found that once the battery indicator on the EOS 5 shows only one segment, I should
change it. With the Elan II, I can get a few more rolls once it reaches this
state. I don't know if you were making any long exposures, but this is particuarly
hard on the batteries. Somebody has figured out that you can only get an hour or
two from one 2CR5 (this problem has been fixed with the EOS 3), because of the high
current drain when the shutter is actually open.
Could there be a problem of condensation/contamination on the battery contacts?
