I have to admit that I am a complete and utter fool. :-(
The only "problem" was that I forgot to switch off the MLU and the
sound of the camera resembled the empty-battery sound. No need to
panic for now.
So far I've taken another 30 shots and the battery is still alive,
even after standing for two hours in the cold (-7 C) and waiting
for the sun to rise. I should have checked the time of sunrise
for myself and not relied on a friend.
