I offer this as anecdotal evidence only (although the logic seems sound): if you do a
lot of focusing and recomposing and refocusing (and then perhaps decide not to make an
exposure at all) etc., the number of rolls you can get from a battery will go down. I
have noticed this especially when using manual focus a lot with the 300/2.8L, in which
manual focus is electronically controlled. So perhaps a better measure of battery life
would be the number of images and potential images framed, rather than rolls actually
exposed.
