Maybe because Sigma include the hood with their lens and that Canon
does not. Some of them photographers may not realize how useful a lens
hood is and did not purchase a hood for their Canon lenses.
Personally, I do not use a UV filter. After comparing images with and
without the filter, I find that images without the filter are sharper.
The UV filter degrade image slightly. I can't see any UV reduction in
my pictures. I'll have to try it again on a bright sunny day.
