The old clean, cotton t-shirt and a bit of steam from your breath works
exceptionally well. As long as there is no grit on the lens you should
never scratch a lens unless you really try hard to. If it is really
greasy, you might use ROR (residual oil remover) or another lens cleaner
either on the cotton t-shirt or on a lens tissue, but I always find I
have to follow up with the t-shirt and breath.

The only exception to this is one I just saw on the Schnieder web site
about B&W filters--it is rediculous. Apparently, the early B&W
multi-coating (not the current MRC coating) is so delicate, they
recommend returning them to Schnieder for cleaning! Can you imagine
sending back a uv filter every time someone gets a finger print on it?
If you don't believe me, check out this url
http://www.schneideroptics.com/faq/faqbw.htm#qu17. They also say you
can use white kleenex with cleaning solution instead of a lens tissue
(for all their filters except these fragile ones).
