Aha - Thanks, Tom.  I had not seen this wording, which is much
clearer.  The B&H webiste says "Accepts one connecting to cord to
off-camera Speedlites."  Which at first I thought was a funny mix of
plural/singular, but now I see I read it worng.   Then there's a
separately listed "Off-camera shoe adapter" (not the OA-2 - any idea
about this one?)  with no number and no picture, so I was thoroughly
befuddled!  Thanks for clearing that up.
